Wide-field J- and K-band Galaxy Counts in the Elais Fields
New near-infrared galaxy counts in the J and K bands are presented over a total area of 0.70 and 0.97 degrees2, respectively. The limiting magnitudes of the deepest regions are 19.5 in J and 18.0 in K. At J > 16 and K > 15 our J and K-band counts number counts agree well with existing surveys provided all data are corrected to a common magnitude scale. There are real differences from field to f...
متن کاملK - band Galaxy Counts
We present new counts of eld galaxies from more than 20 square arcminutes to a limiting magnitude of K=20 and from 2 square arcminutes to K=21.5. At the faintest magnitudes the counts are slightly higher than those reported previously, though still consistent given the small numbers of galaxies in the two samples.
متن کاملA wide - field K – band survey – I . Galaxy counts in B , V , I and
We present bright galaxy number counts measured with linear detectors in the B, V , I, and K bands in two fields covering nearly 10 square degrees. All of our measurements are consistent with passive evolution models, and do not confirm the steep slope measured in other surveys at bright magnitudes. Throughout the range 16 < B < 19, our B−band counts are consistent with the “high normalization”...
متن کاملA wide - field K - band survey - II . Galaxy clustering
We present the first measurement of the angular correlation function in a K-selected galaxy survey, from two fields covering almost 10 square degrees. The angular correlation function at small angles is well described by a θ −0.8 power law, as for optically selected samples. The clustering amplitude is reduced by a factor of ∼ 4 between galaxies with K < 15 and a fainter magnitude slice with 15...
متن کاملK-Band Galaxy Counts in the South Galactic Pole Region
We present new K-band galaxy number counts from K = 13 to 20.5 obtained from K -band surveys in the south galactic pole region, which cover 180.8 arcmin to a limiting magnitude of K = 19, and 2.21 arcmin to K = 21. These are currently the most precise K-band galaxy counts at 17.5 < K < 19.0 because the area of coverage is largest among the existing surveys for this magnitude range. The complete...
